The trial has begun for the former mayor of Namangan city, who was caught with a $60,000 bribe.
The former governor was caught while taking a bribe in exchange for granting the right to build a multi-story building and providing financing.

Today, in the Criminal Court of Uzbekistan's district, the trial began regarding the case of the former mayor of Namangan city, Anvarjon Otakhodjayev, and five other individuals suspected of taking a bribe of 60,000 US dollars. The Fergana region courts reported this.
It was reported that all 6 defendants are male, with "detention" measures applied to 3 defendants and "proper conduct" measures applied to the other 3.
According to the indictment of the preliminary investigation body, the defendants are accused of committing crimes stipulated in Articles 167, 168, 205, 206, 209, 28,209, 210, 28,211, and 212 of the Criminal Code.
As previously reported, Otakhodjayev and the head of a footwear manufacturing LLC conspired to demand 60,000 dollars from a citizen who intended to engage in entrepreneurial activities in the construction sector, in exchange for granting the right to build multi-story residential buildings on a 35-acre plot of land in the city area, replacing dilapidated residential buildings, and providing financing.
