Trump expressed gratitude to Xi Jinping and Putin for remaining neutral in the Iran war.
The US president said that their neutrality prevented the conflict from escalating further.

US President Donald Trump expressed gratitude to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin for maintaining a neutral position during the Iran war. Reuters reported this.
According to Trump, Beijing and Moscow had the opportunity to complicate the situation but chose not to do so.
Trump made this statement at a press conference following the conclusion of the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, France. He positively assessed the actions of the Chinese and Russian leaders after the ceasefire agreement was reached regarding the Iran conflict.
The US President noted that Xi Jinping helped resolve the conflict, emphasizing that China did not send large-scale weapons or shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missile systems to Iran. In Trump's view, if Beijing and Moscow had actively intervened in the conflict, the situation could have escalated further.
At the same time, Trump criticized some US allies, including Japan and European partners, for not providing sufficient support during the military operation and actions in the Strait of Hormuz.
It is noted that Russia and China have close ties with Iran. Moscow had previously warned that the war could trigger a nuclear arms race in the Middle East. Beijing, meanwhile, assessed US strikes against Iran as a violation of the country's sovereignty.
Responding to Trump's statement, the Chinese Embassy in Washington stated that Beijing's position remains unchanged and that China advocates for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict and the preservation of peace. The Russian Embassy did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment.
