Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan are granting each other land plots for 49 years.

The Senate of Kazakhstan has approved a law on the mutual allocation of land plots and buildings for the placement of embassies and residences of ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary with Kyrgyzstan. Tengrinews.kz reported this.

According to the law, the two states will provide each other with buildings and land plots for free use in their capitals for the placement of embassies and ambassador residences. The purpose of the document is to create favorable conditions for the activities of diplomatic missions based on the principles of mutual benefit and equal rights. The real estate properties will be granted to the parties for a period of 49 years.

Kazakhstan will allocate to Kyrgyzstan a 0.74-hectare land plot for the construction of an embassy in Astana and a separate cottage with an area of 1,267 square meters for the ambassador's residence.

Kyrgyzstan, in turn, will provide Kazakhstan with a 0.75-hectare land plot for the placement of an embassy in Bishkek and a cottage with an area of 531 square meters for the ambassador's residence. Each facility will be provided with a separate territory.

According to Senate deputy Andrey Lukin, these real estate properties will be exempt from all types of taxes and fees in both states. Expenses for the construction, renovation, maintenance, and utility services of the buildings will be covered by the parties themselves based on the current tariffs in the host country.

For reference, in March 2025, the Majilis of Kazakhstan also approved an agreement with the United States on leasing a 70.6 thousand square meter land plot in Astana for the construction of a diplomatic facility for a period of 49 years.

According to this agreement, the United States will make a one-time payment of $25.3 million for the lease of the land plot within 30 days after the agreement enters into force.
