It has been proposed to revoke driving licenses in Uzbekistan for exceeding the speed limit by more than 80 km/h.
For certain violations, temporary impoundment of motor vehicles for a period of 6 months to 1 year is envisaged.
It is proposed to introduce the temporary impoundment of motor vehicles as a new administrative penalty measure against drivers who grossly violate traffic rules in Uzbekistan. The relevant draft law was discussed at a meeting of the UzLiDeP faction.
According to the party's press service, the draft provides for amendments and additions to the current legislation in order to improve the traffic safety system.
In accordance with the draft law, it is proposed to introduce a new type of administrative penalty called "temporary impoundment of a motor vehicle" into the Code of Administrative Responsibility. Under this measure, the car or motorcycle of a person who commits certain gross violations may be placed in an impound lot for a period of 6 months to 1 year by a court decision.
The draft also provides for strengthening liability for entrusting the driving of a vehicle to a minor, participating in illegal races, significantly exceeding the established speed limit, and driving while intoxicated.
In particular, it is proposed to deprive drivers who exceed the speed limit by more than 80 km/h of the right to drive a vehicle and impose a fine of up to 26.8 million soums on them.
In addition, the draft provides for establishing criminal liability in cases where entrusting the driving of a vehicle to a minor leads to serious consequences, and allowing car races to be held only in specially designated areas as a sporting event in compliance with safety requirements.
According to UzLiDeP, the proposed amendments are aimed at improving road safety, preventing traffic accidents, and protecting the life and health of citizens. The draft law is currently at the discussion stage.
