A paid electronic entry permit for foreigners may be introduced in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan's Ministry of Internal Affairs has drafted a government resolution introducing paid electronic entry permits for foreigners. The document has been submitted for public discussion on the "Open Regulatory Legal Acts" portal, as reported by Meduza.

According to the draft resolution, the fees will be directed toward covering costs for developing digital infrastructure and protecting personal data. However, the price of the electronic permit and which categories of foreigners the new procedure will apply to have not yet been disclosed.

It has been stated that the phased introduction of paid electronic entry permits is planned for August–December 2026.

The draft was developed within the framework of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's instructions to modernize and digitize migration control. In June of this year, the president signed a law that created the legal basis for introducing the electronic entry permit system.

The draft resolution will remain open for public discussion until August 17.
