Ilhom Aliyev spoke with Donald Trump over the phone.
The sides agreed to bring the Azerbaijan–U.S. strategic partnership to a new stage.

On August 8, a telephone conversation took place between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and US President Donald Trump was held.
During the conversation, the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia was discussed on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Washington summit. The parties emphasized that the long-standing conflict had been brought to an end.
Additionally, economic ties between the two countries, the TRIPP transport project, and issues of strengthening transport connectivity in the region were discussed.
Aliyev expressed gratitude to Trump for his role in the Washington summit and for inviting Azerbaijan to the G20 summit. The parties agreed to elevate the Azerbaijan–US strategic partnership to a new stage.
