Were tax debts calculated for 3,600 households that had no debts?
Explanation given for the recalculation of land tax for some households in Tashkent.
Reports have circulated on social media that tax debts that did not previously exist have been assessed on some households in Tashkent. The State Tax Committee has issued an official statement on the matter.
It was noted that property and land taxes on real estate objects are calculated based on data from cadastral authorities. By the decision of the mayor of Tashkent city dated March 3, 2023, the zone boundaries were re-approved. Subsequently, the area of Yuksalish Street was transferred from Zone 5 to Zone 4, and the relevant data was submitted to the tax authorities.
On this basis, the land tax on real estate objects was recalculated from 2023 at the rates established for Zone 4.
It was reported that taxes were recalculated for a total of 144 real estate objects in the Khushnud mahalla of the Yangihayot district.
Furthermore, according to the results of the inventory conducted within the framework of implementing Law No. 937, data on an average of about 50,000 objects per month is received by tax authorities. For this reason, it was emphasized that recalculations being carried out is a natural process.
The official statement noted that the recalculations were carried out in accordance with the requirements of the current tax legislation. It was stated that the taxes paid are directed to local budgets and serve to provide social protection for the population, develop infrastructure, and improve the beautification of areas.
