12 projects worth 176 million dollars were launched in Khorezm region.

12 projects with a total value of 176 million dollars were launched in the Khorezm region. Additionally, construction of 15 new projects worth 7 billion 424 million dollars was started with the participation of foreign partners.

The ceremony to launch the new projects took place on August 17 at the “Farovon Khiva Hotel” in the city of Khiva, with the participation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

It was noted at the event that over the past nine years, 7.5 billion dollars of investment have been attracted to the Khorezm region, and 9,700 new capacities have been launched. More than 33 trillion soums in loans have been allocated to finance small and medium-sized business projects.

As a result, the real income of the population in the region has doubled. The poverty rate has dropped to 4.4 percent, and unemployment to 4.5 percent. 72 mahallas have become areas “free from unemployment and poverty.” Work is also being carried out to develop transport and tourism infrastructure in the region.

Over the past nine years, 280 hotels and guest houses have been built, and the hotel capacity has increased fourfold. Over the last five years, the number of foreign tourists visiting Khorezm has increased tenfold.

It was emphasized at the event that the volume of foreign investment attracted to the region in 2026 is exceeding 2 billion dollars. Since the beginning of the year, the necessary infrastructure has been created in the cities of Urganch and Khiva, as well as in the Tuproqqal’a and Urganch districts, for projects in the chemical, mechanical engineering, construction materials, and tourism sectors.

Additionally, an electrified railway line from Urganch International Airport to Khiva has been put into operation. A toll road between Urganch and Khiva is also being launched. It is expected that travel time from Urganch to Khiva via this road will be reduced from 45 minutes to 20 minutes.

Among the new projects are a 6 billion dollar project to produce sustainable aviation fuel in the Tuproqqal’a district in partnership with the UAE, a 170 million dollar bioethanol plant, a 30 million dollar hotel and shopping-entertainment complex in the city of Urganch, and a 100 million dollar waste recycling and 71 megawatt “green” energy production project in the Urganch district.

Furthermore, a 120 million dollar “Sahro yulduzi” (Desert Star) tourist complex will be established near Khiva, and a 26 million dollar copper industry cluster and a 60 million dollar fiber-optic cable production enterprise will be established in the Urganch district.

In the town of Al-Khorezmi, a university for 5,000 students, hotels, recreation and shopping complexes are planned, and in the city of Urganch, the construction of an “Investors’ House” is planned. As a result of the projects, a total of 6,600 new jobs are expected to be created.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev pressed the symbolic button, launching the new projects and giving the start to the construction of future projects.
