The procedure for transferring money via phone number in Uzbekistan has been established.

The procedure for transferring money between individuals using mobile phone numbers has been established in Uzbekistan. The relevant decision of the Central Bank's board was registered with the state on August 24, according to this link. The document takes effect three months after its official publication.

Under the new procedure, citizens will not be required to enter the recipient's bank account or bank card details when sending money. For this, the recipient's mobile phone number must be linked to their bank account.

Money transfers will be carried out through the Central Bank's Fast Payments System.

The phone number registered in the user's bank mobile app will be linked to the corresponding bank account. Within one bank, a single mobile phone number can only be attached to one bank account.

Once the linking process is completed, a special "linking code" is generated and displayed to the user in the bank mobile app. A citizen can cancel the linking of their phone number to their account at any time through the mobile app or by directly contacting the bank.

If a user registers a new phone number in the bank mobile app, the previous number is automatically replaced with the new one.

The sender enters the recipient's phone number or "linking code" in the relevant field in the bank mobile app. After that, the Fast Payments System identifies information about the recipient's account.

Before confirming the transfer, the user is shown the recipient's full name, bank, and information about the service fee. After that, the payer selects the bank through which the transfer will be made and confirms the transaction.

Such money transfers made through the mobile app are executed in real time 24/7. Transfers made by directly contacting the bank are carried out during the bank's business days and working hours.

The decision stipulates that it is mandatory to comply with existing requirements on information security, cybersecurity, and fraud prevention when making money transfers based on phone numbers.

Once the transfer is successfully completed, the payer is provided with a document confirming the transaction. It reflects the date and time of the transfer, the number in the payment system, the names of the banks, the details of the payer and recipient, the transfer amount, and the service fee.

Thus, once the new system is launched, citizens will be able to use a mobile phone number instead of searching for and entering the recipient's bank details when sending money to another person.

For reference, in March 2026, the Account-to-Account (A-A) service was also launched between banks in Uzbekistan. It allowed individuals to transfer money directly from one bank account to another.
