7 cemeteries will be relocated due to the construction of the new Tashkent airport

According to the relevant decision of the Governor of Tashkent Region, the "Sergeli Children's" and "Korean" cemeteries located in the Sergeli neighborhood of Quyi Chirchiq District will be relocated.

The "Suvon Baghish" and "Qudoyqul" Muslim cemeteries, the "Qudoyqul" and "Sariqtepa" Korean cemeteries, and the "Boris" Russian Christian cemetery located in the Yangiyo'l neighborhood of O'rta Chirchiq District have also been designated for relocation.

It is noted that burial activities in these cemeteries were halted many years ago. In a conclusion issued on April 10, 2026, the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan stated that the bodies of the deceased have likely decomposed into the soil, and that the cemetery areas may be used in accordance with the established procedure.

If bone remains are found during the opening of the graves, they will be carefully collected and reburied in other cemeteries.

Furthermore, according to the decision, graves exhumed from the "Sergeli Children's" cemetery will be relocated to "Shardara," and the remains removed from the "Korean" cemetery will be relocated to the Russian-Korean cemetery in the Sergeli neighborhood.

Graves exhumed from the "Suvon Baghish" and "Qudoyqul" Muslim cemeteries will be reburied in the "Zaynab Ona" cemetery in the Yangiyo'l neighborhood.

The remains exhumed from the "Qudoyqul" and "Sariqtepa" Korean cemeteries and the "Boris" Russian Christian cemetery will be relocated to the Korean cemetery in the Taraqqiyot neighborhood.

Reburial activities have been designated to be carried out in accordance with religious traditions, as well as in compliance with sanitary-epidemiological, ecological, architectural, and public requirements.
