President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the medical academy in Nukus

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the activities of the Karakalpakstan Scientific and Practical Medical Academy.

In Karakalpakstan, special attention is being paid to systematically improving the qualifications of doctors and secondary medical personnel. The newly established academy will become a supporting center for retraining industry personnel based on international standards and advanced technologies.

In accordance with the relevant resolution of the Head of State dated December 24, 2024, it is designated to transform medical institutions in the region into a single innovation cluster combining science, education, and practice with the participation of the private sector.

For this purpose, a modern complex worth a total of 154 billion soums was built on an area of 4.6 hectares, and 80 new jobs were created.

The academy has the capacity to improve the qualifications of 3,000 doctors and 6,800 secondary medical and pharmaceutical personnel per year. Also, nearly 100 clinical residents from the Aral Sea region are trained annually.

To develop the practical skills of specialists, 18 simulation rooms have been established. In them, digital and simulation training has been organized in more than 50 areas. For specialists coming from remote areas, a 72-bed hotel is operating.

The academy is also equipped with modern medical technologies. In particular, the "Edge Medical" surgical robot, noted as the only one in Central Asia, has been installed here. The device allows performing remote operations in real clinical conditions, in addition to simulation training sessions.

The academy cooperates with foreign medical centers and leading higher education institutions such as the University of Pittsburgh in the USA and the University of Freiburg in Germany. International training courses and joint scientific research are organized here, and telemedicine and digital education technologies have been introduced.

The Head of State inspected the practical training rooms at the academy and talked with students and healthcare sector employees.
