The Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan has won the Terres Gold Award in Spain
"Echo of Enlightenment" starring Ben Kingsley — a finalist at the New York Festivals and the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards.
The Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan has been awarded the gold prize at the 10th anniversary Terres Travel Festival – Films & Creativity 2026 held in Spain. Audiovisual projects from more than 40 countries around the world participated in this festival. This award in the "Tourism Service" nomination was presented to the film "Echo of Enlightenment," featuring Oscar-winning actor Ben Kingsley.
The Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan is an authorial mega-project of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aimed at studying, preserving, and showcasing to the world the scientific, spiritual, and cultural heritage of Islamic civilization.
The gold prize of the Terres Festival continued the international successes of the film "Echo of Enlightenment." In 2026, the film became a finalist at the New York Festivals and the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Festival, was recognized at the SILKFEST 26 festival in Belgrade, and subsequently received the Terres gold prize in Spain. This project presents Uzbekistan as a center of historical memory, science, culture, and enlightenment, revealing the contribution of Islamic civilization to the development of human thought.
The Terres Travel Festival recognizes projects that showcase the tourism potential of countries and regions, spark interest in their cultural heritage, and inspire international audiences to travel. In this context, the film "Echo of Enlightenment" presents Uzbekistan not only as a tourist destination but as a land of great scholars, thinkers, and discoveries where history, culture, science, and spiritual heritage converge.
The participation of the legendary Ben Kingsley in the project holds a special place. The actor won an Oscar for his role in the film "Gandhi" and is well known to global audiences through his portrayal of Abu Ali ibn Sina (Avicenna) in the historical drama "The Physician." In the film "Echo of Enlightenment," Kingsley addresses the distinguished scholars and thinkers of Uzbekistan, narrating the story of Islamic civilization, which made a significant contribution to the development of science, education, culture, and human thought.
The Terres gold prize enriched the Center's list of international achievements. In 2026, it was officially entered into the Guinness Book of Records as the "Largest Museum of Islamic Civilization," and TURKSOY recognized it as the "Best Museum of the Turkic World." In 2025, the Center had received the International Avicenna Award. In addition, at the World Halal Tourism Summit held in Singapore, it was honored with the "Islamic Heritage Object of the Year" award.
The Terres Travel Festival is held in the city of Tortosa in Catalonia and is dedicated to films about travel, tourism, culture, and regions. The festival is an official member of CIFFT — the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals. Award-winning works participate in the CIFFT Ranking – World's Best Tourism Films rating.
