The use of electric scooters and electric bicycles will be restricted in the historical area of Bukhara
The new procedure comes into force on October 1, 2026.
Restrictions will be introduced on the use of electric scooters, electric mopeds, and certain other personal mobility devices in the historic part of Bukhara city. The new regulation will come into force on October 1, 2026. The corresponding decision was adopted by the mayor of Bukhara city.
The restriction applies in the area from the Ark Fortress to the Poi Kalon ensemble, along Haqiqat Street to the Labi Hovuz ensemble.
In this area, in addition to electric scooters and electric mopeds, rickshaws, mopeds, four-wheeled bicycles, go-karts, as well as travel on horses and camels are also restricted.
The decision notes that the number of vehicles in this area that do not meet passenger transport requirements and may pose a danger has sharply increased. It is emphasized that this situation poses a threat to the safe movement of tourists and excursionists, as well as causing injuries to pedestrians.
Responsible organizations have been tasked with installing relevant information signs and road signs at the entry and exit points of the area where the restriction applies. It is also stipulated that individuals and legal entities operating in the area be notified in advance about the new regulation.
Self-employed citizens who provide services or operate using these devices will be explained the possibility of providing services in special areas such as the New Uzbekistan Park or the Eternal Bukhara Park in accordance with the established procedure.
