Was there an instruction not to admit citizens of India and Bangladesh to higher education institutions?

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations has denied reports that it gave verbal instructions to state and non-state higher education organizations not to admit citizens of India and Bangladesh as students.

 

According to the ministry, starting from the current academic year, the process of admitting foreign applicants to higher education organizations in Uzbekistan is being carried out through the unified electronic platform "Study in Uzbekistan".

 

Through the platform, foreign applicants can obtain information about higher education organizations in Uzbekistan, educational programs, admission requirements, and fees, submit their documents electronically, and track the status of their application.

 

According to the ministry, the new system is aimed at making the admission process open and transparent for foreign applicants, freeing them from dependence on intermediaries, and enabling direct communication with higher education organizations. Registration on the platform is free.

 

The ministry also announced that Uzbekistan is interested not in restricting the flow of foreign students, but in expanding it. The goal is to broaden the geography of foreign students and develop education exports.

 

The volume of admission of foreign students is determined based on the capabilities of each higher education organization. This takes into account classrooms, laboratory facilities, the potential of professors and teachers, student dormitories, and other infrastructure capabilities.

 

The ministry recommended that foreign applicants use the official "Study in Uzbekistan" platform for studying in Uzbekistan, obtain information about admission requirements directly from the selected higher education organization, and not make unjustified payments to intermediaries.
