Student protests in France: 164 people detained

Protests were held in various regions of France, particularly in the Ile-de-France region, by high school students against the lack of resources and teachers in educational institutions. During the protests, 164 people were detained.

 

According to French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez, during the protests, 12 high school students, three school principals, five employees of educational institutions, and 12 internal security forces officers were injured.

 

According to Nunez, on September 28, protest actions across the country covered nearly 180 schools. Of these, 27 were completely blocked. In some places, clashes occurred between protesters and police.

 

According to BFMTV television channel, the protests continued on September 29. In Paris, high school students held a demonstration to draw attention to the difficult situation in educational institutions.

 

In the city of Lille, the situation escalated. A group of protesters tried to forcefully enter the César Baggio school. After that, law enforcement officers were sent to the scene. 

 

Some of the protesters threw stones and other objects at the police, after which law enforcement forces began to disperse them.

 

University students also began joining the protest actions. According to BFMTV, the Pont-de-Bois campus located in the city of Villeneuve-d'Ascq near Lille was blocked by students.

 

At the Paul Sabatier University in the city of Toulouse, students also held a protest action, putting forward their demands.
