US President Donald Trump has invited world-famous Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo to come to America. In a video address circulating on social media, Trump called Ronaldo "the greatest footballer of all time."
"Cristiano Ronaldo, you are the greatest footballer of all time. In America, we need you. Hit the road immediately — you need to get to our side faster," Trump said in his address.
The video was published in a short format and includes scenes created with the help of artificial intelligence. In some shots, Trump and Ronaldo are depicted as if they are playing football on the White House grounds.
This statement emerged ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It is known that the tournament will be hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Observers are interpreting Trump's invitation in several ways.
In particular, there is a possibility of inviting Ronaldo to the US MLS league. Or it could be a symbolic appeal aimed at increasing interest in football ahead of the World Cup.
Currently, Ronaldo plays for Saudi Arabia's "Al-Nassr" club. He has not yet officially responded to this call.
