A corruption scheme within the "My School" project has been exposed in Surkhandarya.
Two officials were caught while taking bribes totaling 111,200 US dollars and 567 million soums.

A major corruption scheme in the education sector of Surkhandarya region has been exposed. This was reported by the "Vodiy24" publication.
According to the report, the former head of the regional Department of Preschool and School Education, H.Mamadiyev, and the former head of the Termiz city department, S.Ro'ziqulov, have been caught taking large bribes.
According to investigation data, the corruption scheme was formed within the framework of the "My School" project implemented in Jarkurgan district. Mamadiyev had been systematically demanding money in exchange for "assisting" entrepreneurs in tenders held for supplying computers and other technical equipment to kindergartens.
The officials were caught red-handed by law enforcement agencies with material evidence while taking a total of 111,200 US dollars and 567 million soums as bribes.
The former head of the Termiz city Department of Preschool and School Education, Sirojiddin Ro'ziqulov, is also involved in the criminal case. Interestingly, Ro'ziqulov was seen off from his position with ceremony and gifts in October 2025.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against both officials under Part 2 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Bribe-taking). The relevant clauses of this article (committed repeatedly, in a very large amount, and by a group of persons) envisage severe penalties.
The investigation is ongoing. This incident has once again brought the issue of transparency in tender processes within the education system to the forefront.
