A snowstorm that hit the northeastern United States has paralyzed New York City. It was reported that in several areas, the snow depth reached or exceeded approximately 55 centimeters, the highest level observed in the city in the last nine years.

Mayor Eric Adams declared a state of emergency, announcing that starting from February 22nd, public transport and private vehicle traffic have been almost completely halted. Schools were closed, classes were canceled, and residents are advised to stay home.

The storm intensified rapidly, with snowfall rates of 5–8 centimeters per hour. Visibility on the roads is severely limited due to strong winds.

The adverse weather conditions have dealt a serious blow to the air transport system. Over 5,000 flights were canceled in a single day at New York's major airports.

Meteorological services issued warnings about the snowstorm. A state of emergency was declared in many states, with only essential service vehicles permitted on the roads.

Furthermore, due to strong winds and snow, power outages have occurred, leaving hundreds of thousands of people without electricity in some areas.
