American billionaire Bill Gates apologized to the staff of the Gates Foundation for his ties with Jeffrey Epstein. He acknowledged making mistakes that negatively impacted the charity's work.
According to a letter obtained by The Wall Street Journal, Gates began meeting with Epstein starting in 2011. This was after Epstein had admitted to organizing sex services.
Gates stated that his wife Melinda was opposed to his connections with Epstein and also admitted to having extramarital affairs with a Russian woman and a Russian nuclear physicist.
The Microsoft founder noted that spending time with Epstein and introducing foundation leaders to this sex offender was a major mistake. At the same time, Bill Gates emphasized that he had not done anything illegal.
In early 2026, the U.S. Department of Justice announced a new set of approximately three million files related to the case of financier Jeffrey Epstein. They mention the names of high-ranking politicians, members of royal families, and businessmen who communicated with Epstein, including Bill Gates.
