Following the airstrikes carried out by the US and Israel on Iranian territory, Uzbek footballers playing in the country are temporarily leaving Iran for security reasons. This was reported by the Daryo newspaper.
It is noted that several members of the Uzbek national team, who represent Iranian clubs, have left for safe areas due to the turbulent situation.
They are:
- Rustam Ashurmatov (“Istiqlol”) — is currently in Dubai.
- Odil Hamrobekov (“Tractorsozi”) — has managed to return to Tashkent.
- Jaloliddin Masharipov (“Istiqlol”) — has left for Italy to recover from his injury.
- Igor Sergeyev (“Persepolis”) — set off to cross the Iranian border on February 28.
- Oston O'runov (“Persepolis”) — is currently crossing the Iranian border into Turkey.
On February 28, at around 09:30 local time, Tehran and other major cities in the country were hit by rocket attacks. A total of 201 people were killed and 747 were injured in 24 provinces of the country.
