A new program for the socio-economic development of the Republic of Karakalpakstan has been approved.

According to the announcement by the Ministry of Justice, within the framework of the new program for the socio-economic development of the Republic of Karakalpakstan approved by the President's decree PQ-70 dated February 21, starting from April 1, the fee for state preschool educational institutions will be reduced by 50 percent for residents of the "Qaratau" and "Bestobe" neighborhood citizens' assemblies, which are administratively part of Nukus city.
Furthermore, for entrepreneurs operating in this area in the field of trade complexes and hotel services with an area exceeding 5,000 square meters, land tax and property tax rates will be applied with a 90 percent reduction from January 1, 2027, to January 1, 2040.
According to the decision, by the end of 2026, the gross regional product will be increased by 8.1 percent, and industrial production by 8 percent. The document sets goals to reduce the unemployment rate to 4.2 percent, poverty to 3.2 percent, and to turn Nukus city, Kungrad and Chimboy districts, and 109 neighborhoods into areas free from unemployment and poverty.
By 2030, it is planned to increase export volume to $900 million, gross regional product to 102.4 trillion soums, boost agricultural production, and implement projects worth $7.2 billion in the industrial and services sectors.
At the same time, the position of First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers for Ecology and Development of the Aral Sea Region has been abolished, and a new deputy position for livestock farming and efficient use of pastures has been introduced.
