A mother and child who attempted to smuggle 819 million soums worth of gold to Kyrgyzstan have been apprehended.

The violators attempted to smuggle gold ingots weighing a total of 473 grams by hiding them in their clothing.

According to information provided by the State Security Service to Zamon.uz, during a joint operation conducted by the service's Andijan regional department and Customs authorities, an individual residing in the Baliqchi district and their child were detained at the "Do'stlik" border customs post in the Xo'jaobod district. They were attempting to smuggle 7 non-standard shaped gold ingots, weighing a total of 473 grams and valued at 819 million soums, hidden under their clothing, into Kyrgyzstan.

 

Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against the offenders under Article 182, Part 2, clause "a" of the Criminal Code (violation of customs legislation), and investigative actions are being carried out.
