71 Uzbek citizens on a cruise ship in Qatar will be repatriated.

Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East region, measures are being taken to repatriate Uzbek citizens stranded in Qatar. This was reported by the "Dunyo" news agency.

It is reported that 91 citizens of Uzbekistan who were stranded in Doha for various reasons have been provided with temporary accommodation in coordination with the Qatar Tourism Authority. On March 4, representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan met with their compatriots and provided them with necessary practical and informational assistance.

Ambassador Ashraf Khodjaev visited Doha Port and met with 71 Uzbek citizens aboard the Celestine Cruises ship. During the conversation, they were informed about the current situation and the measures being taken for their repatriation.

Embassy staff visited the Grand Regal Hotel, Hampton by Hilton Doha Old Town, Jouri Al Murwab Hotel, and Retaj Al Rayyan Hotel, collected information about the citizens temporarily residing there, and compiled a list. It was noted that this is necessary to coordinate possible evacuation processes.

Currently, Qatar's airspace remains closed. Foreign tourists in the country are awaiting additional official information.

Due to tensions in the Middle East, flights from Uzbek cities to Dubai, Sharjah, Medina, Doha, Jeddah, Tel Aviv, Tehran, and Kuwait have been temporarily suspended since February 28. As a result, some Uzbek citizens in Kuwait, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE have been unable to return home.

On the instruction of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, work is underway to organize the repatriation of citizens stranded in the Gulf countries. The Ministry of Transport has developed specific plans in cooperation with resident and foreign airlines. To coordinate the processes, a headquarters operating 24/7 has been established under the "Uzaviation" agency.

On March 4, Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and expressed gratitude for the conditions created to ensure the safety of Uzbek citizens in Qatar and for their repatriation.
