600 billion soums will be allocated to prevent water shortages.

In Uzbekistan, reconstruction works of canals and irrigation networks are being carried out to efficiently utilize water resources and prevent water shortages. In this regard, a Presidential decision has been adopted.

According to the document, funds will be allocated from the state budget for the renewal of water infrastructure. In particular, 480 billion soums will be directed for the concreting of canals and irrigation networks, and 120 billion soums for measures aimed at preventing water shortages.

Using these funds, 389 kilometers of canals with high water loss will be reconstructed and concreted. As a result of implementing the project, it is expected to create the opportunity to save an average of 206 million cubic meters of water and 26 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.

Furthermore, through the works to be implemented, it is planned to improve the water supply for 159 thousand hectares of irrigated land. According to officials, these measures will serve to ensure efficient water use in agriculture.
