The employee demanded a bribe for issuing a license to open a branch of a non-state higher education institution.
The leading specialist of the Department of Licensing of Educational Institutions of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of Uzbekistan was detained for demanding 100 thousand US dollars in the process of issuing a license to open a branch in Surkhandarya region of a non-state higher education institution operating in the city of Karshi. This was reported to Zamon.uz by the State Security Service (SSS).
The incident was identified during an operational event conducted by SSS officers in Tashkent. The employee was caught red-handed with material evidence at the moment of receiving the requested funds.
The Investigation Department of the State Security Service initiated a criminal case against this person under Article 168, Part 4, paragraph "a" of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan and the preventive measure "detention" was applied. Investigation is currently underway.
