Iran announced that it is not involved in the Nakhchivan incident and emphasized that the incident is under investigation.

On March 8, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. This was reported by the press service of the President of Azerbaijan.
During the conversation, Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Iran was not involved in the aerial shooting incident organized in Nakhchivan and emphasized the need for a full investigation of the incident.
Pezeshkian also expressed his gratitude to Ilham Aliyev for visiting the Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan and expressing condolences in connection with the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He also thanked him for the intention to provide humanitarian aid to Iran.
President Ilham Aliyev also expressed condolences regarding the numerous civilian facilities and individuals killed in the recent events in Iranian territory and emphasized the need for a full investigation of the incident in Nakhchivan.
