In Surkhandarya, a 27-year-old man was found to have taken money from 15 people by selling a non-existent Cobalt car through a fake Telegram profile. This was reported by the Surkhandarya Regional Department of Internal Affairs.
The young man, a resident of Kumkurgan district, opened a fake profile on Telegram and posted advertisements in various groups claiming a Cobalt car was for sale. He attracted buyers by showing the car's price below market value. He asked buyers for advance payment to install new tires on the car, and after receiving the money, he deleted the correspondence.
During the investigation, it was determined that the suspect had caused damage totaling over 8 million soums to 3 citizens in the Oltinsoy district of the region. In total, he misappropriated funds from 15 citizens.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against him under Part 3 of Article 168 of the Criminal Code (fraud), and a preventive measure of detention has been applied.
