It has been confirmed that Hurriyat Tursunboyeva, an Uzbek woman reported missing in Istanbul in 2019, was murdered. NTV reported on this.
It is reported that the woman was killed by her husband. The crime was uncovered as a result of a reinvestigation conducted seven years later by a special group under Istanbul's Missing Persons Bureau.
During the investigation, the woman's neighbors in the Maltepe district were questioned. The suspect, the deceased's husband Ersin Y., told the neighbors that his wife had been deported. However, the neighbors stated that a strong odor was coming from the apartment at the time, which the man explained by saying he was raising pigeons at home.
Checks showed no record of the woman having left Turkey. On the contrary, a phone registered in her name was actively used within the country. According to information provided by the deceased's sister, there were regular arguments between the couple.
After his wife "disappeared," the suspect filed for divorce, claiming "she left me," and the marriage was officially annulled in 2024 because the woman did not appear in court. It was also discovered that the man had been living in hiding using another person's documents.
During an inspection conducted with the prosecutor's permission, traces of blood were found in the apartment using a special luminol substance.
Ersin Y. was apprehended on March 9, 2026, while entering Turkey from Georgia. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime, stating that he killed his wife by hitting her during an argument.
According to his statement, the body was kept at home for a while, then dismembered and discarded in a waste container.
Currently, the suspect has been arrested by court order. The person suspected of providing him with documents and assistance has been released under judicial supervision.
