A National Dendrology Park will be established in Tashkent.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself on March 23 with a presentation of priority projects for 2026–2030 in the field of ecology and environmental protection. The plan for establishing a National Dendrology Park in Tashkent city was presented.

According to the project, a large green area will be organized in the capital on an area of 108 hectares. It is planned to plant 50 thousand tree saplings and 100 thousand shrubs there.

Green Areas to be Expanded

The presentation also reviewed the concept for establishing botanical and dendrology parks within the framework of the "Green Space" program. Currently, there are 3 botanical gardens in the country, and it is additionally planned to establish 12 more botanical and 16 dendrology parks.

By 2028, such parks will be established in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and all regions on an area of at least 100 hectares. Through this, it is planned to increase the greenery level in the country from 14.2 percent to 30 percent by 2030 and reduce PM2.5 and PM10 indicators in the air by 20–25 percent.

Capabilities of the National Dendrology Park

The National Dendrology Park to be established in Tashkent will serve not only as a recreation area but also as a scientific and educational center. There will be:

• A "World Trees" area;

• A collection of plants characteristic of 6 climate zones;

• Fruit and local forest areas;

• A medicinal plants garden;

• Greenhouses and flower gardens;

• Pedestrian and bicycle paths;

• Recreation zones organized;

Furthermore, a 1-hectare artificial lake will be built in the center of the park, around which a cherry blossom garden will be created.

Modern Ecological Technologies

The project envisages the introduction of solar panels, infrastructure elements made from recycled materials, and an automated drip irrigation system.

The park is expected to become a natural laboratory for the Green University and a center for ecotourism and eco-education for the public.
