Donald Trump's signature will be printed on US banknotes.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced that starting in June 2026, U.S. paper currency will feature the signature of President Donald Trump.

This marks the first time in American history that the signature of a sitting president will appear on the national currency.

Trump's signature will be placed alongside that of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. According to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, this decision was made in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.

Based on initial designs, the $100 bills bearing the signatures of Trump and Bessent will be issued in June. Other denominations will be introduced into circulation in the following months. It may take several weeks for the new banknotes to be widely distributed through banks.

According to Treasury officials, the overall design of the banknotes will not change; only the Treasury Secretary's signature will be replaced with Trump's. Furthermore, for the first time in 165 years, the Treasury Secretary's signature will be removed from the currency.

Currently, banknotes in circulation feature the signatures of former Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen from the Joe Biden administration and former Treasurer Lynn Malerba.

This change is seen as the latest step by the Trump administration and its allies to incorporate the president's name into various government buildings, institutions, programs, and coins.
