It is reported that on March 27, 2026, in New York City, a Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Lesotho was signed.
The Kingdom of Lesotho became the 166th country with which Uzbekistan has established diplomatic relations. The document was signed on behalf of the two governments by Uzbekistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ulugbek Lapasov, and the Head of the Lesotho Mission to the UN, Matete Nena.
According to the report, during the talks, the importance of strengthening close cooperation within international organizations, including the UN and its specialized agencies, was noted.
An agreement was reached to continue bilateral relations, primarily by seeking mutually beneficial areas of cooperation in political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
For reference, on September 26, 2025, Uzbekistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Baxtiyor Saidov and Palau's Minister of State Gustav Aitaro signed a Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations in New York City. This archipelago state, located in the western Pacific Ocean, became the 165th country with which Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations.
