A shooting occurred near the Israeli consulate in Istanbul.

Two attackers were killed and another was seriously injured in a prolonged shootout between police and assailants outside the building housing the Israeli consulate in Istanbul. Reuters reported on this.

 

Video footage released by Reuters shows a police officer drawing his weapon and taking cover upon hearing gunfire, and a wounded person at the scene.

 

Other videos obtained by Reuters show a suspected attacker moving between white police and security buses, firing an automatic weapon and a pistol for several minutes. Two bodies were noted on a nearby street and in a green area.

 

Media reports indicate that two police officers were also injured as a result of this incident. The incident occurred near the tower building housing the Israeli consulate in Istanbul's financial district.

 

Enhanced armed police surveillance has been maintained around the consulate since the war between Hamas and Israel began in 2023.

 

A source close to the matter stated that there are currently no Israeli diplomats stationed in Turkey.
