Israel struck near a school in Gaza.

On Monday, at least 10 people were killed and several others wounded as a result of an Israeli airstrike near a school housing displaced Palestinians in the Gaza sector. Reuters reports on this.

Medical staff reported that the attack occurred in a densely populated area east of the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza.

Doctors and local residents stated that prior to the airstrike, clashes had erupted between Palestinians and members of a militia supported by Israel. They reported that this group had attempted to attack the school and kidnap some individuals.

During the clashes, Israel launched two missiles into the area. According to a witness, militia members began shooting upon entering the area, and residents tried to defend themselves.

Later, one of the leaders of the Israeli-supported militia announced in a video address (whose authenticity has not yet been confirmed) that five Hamas members had been killed. Hamas did not comment on this statement.

Earlier that same day, a Palestinian riding a motorcycle in Gaza City was killed and a child was wounded as a result of an Israeli strike. Furthermore, another person was killed in central Gaza when a car was fired upon. Thus, the death toll for the day reached at least 12.
