A road traffic accident involving a driver operating a vehicle while intoxicated occurred in Bukhara city, resulting in injury to a 5-year-old child. The regional DIA information service reported this.

It was reported that on April 15, a driver born in 1981, while driving a Chery brand car on Alpomish Street, collided with the rear of an Onix car that had stopped to let pedestrians cross.

After the collision, the driver lost control and also collided with a Lacetti that was yielding to pedestrians in the oncoming lane. During this process, he hit a child born in 2021 who was crossing the pedestrian walkway.

The driver damaged another vehicle while fleeing and hid from the scene of the incident. During the investigation, it was determined that he was driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, and this fact was officially documented according to established procedure.

Regarding the incident, an administrative protocol has been drawn up against the driver based on Article 131 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He may face deprivation of his driver's license for at least 3 years and a fine of up to 40 times the base calculation amount.
