An illegal gold mining and processing case has been identified in the Navoi region.
In the Tomdi district, mineral stones with a total value of 569.8 million soums were seized as material evidence.

In January–March 2026, cases of illegal gold mining and processing were detected and stopped in several regions. This was reported by the Department for Combating Economic Crimes in a statement.
According to the report, during an operational event in the Tomdi district, citizen O.I. and other individuals were caught illegally extracting 5,200 kg of ore stones, containing 315.1 grams of gold substance, with a total value of 569.8 million soums, at the "Bessopan" industrial site. These products were documented as material evidence.
Additionally, during an event in the Konimex district, citizens T.T. and T.G. were found to have conspired to illegally extract sand and stones containing gold using special equipment in the territory of the "Karakata" MFY.
In the Khatirchi district, citizen U.R. was exposed for engaging in the extraction of gold from sand and stones at his residence in the "Zarafshon" MFY, and 160 kg of sand and stones containing gold particles were seized as material evidence. In the same area, another citizen, S.Kh., was also found to be engaged in similar activities, and 300 kg of sand and stones were seized as material evidence.
Criminal cases have been initiated under Article 196-2 of the Criminal Code (illegal extraction of minerals without a permit) regarding these incidents, and investigative actions are underway.
