The "Honorary" status will be introduced in Uzbekistan.

The draft law "On Veterans" was reviewed in the first reading at the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and was adopted by the deputies.

The draft law stipulates a clear definition of the status of veterans, their categories, as well as the powers of sectors and departments.

The document envisages strengthening the legal and social protection of veterans, and systematizing the benefits and guarantees provided to them.

According to the draft, citizens who have worked conscientiously and exemplarily for many years in a specific field, sector, or profession, and have earned recognition from the state and society, will be granted the status of "veteran."

Individuals with this status will be entitled to a number of benefits. Specifically, they will have the opportunity to receive free treatment in sanatorium-resort and health-improving facilities, receive compensation payments for housing and communal services, and also benefit from privileges within the tax and pension system.

Furthermore, the draft also provides for preferential provision of medicines for veterans during outpatient treatment, as well as preferential access to cultural and entertainment institutions — theaters, sports facilities, museums, and tangible cultural heritage sites.

The draft law also states that strengthening the system of social support for veterans and clearly defining their rights and guarantees at the legislative level are the main objectives.

Following the discussions, the draft law was approved by the deputies in the first reading.
