It was reported that the shadow turnover of tobacco products in the market of Uzbekistan has decreased from 22.4 to 7 percent.

A meeting was held at the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor's Office with representatives of the British American Tobacco Uzbekistan enterprise.

It was attended by the leadership of the General Prosecutor's Office Department and the Inspectorate for Regulation of the Alcohol and Tobacco Market, as well as representatives of the British American Tobacco Uzbekistan enterprise.

During the meeting, it was noted that the company has created over 1,000 jobs, established cooperation with more than 18,000 retail outlets, invested 530 million US dollars, achieved an export volume of 95 million US dollars, and reduced the illicit turnover of tobacco products from 22.4 to 7 percent.

Furthermore, systematic measures were outlined aimed at modernizing production capacities, launching the production of new product types, expanding the export geography, establishing connections with the local agricultural supply chain, reducing the shadow economy, fostering a fair competition environment, and expanding legal turnover.
