According to a representative of the village residents, the mudflow came with such high pressure and speed that the young man did not have time to save himself.
"Unfortunately, shortly after, his lifeless body was found in the water," he said.
The deceased's body was found approximately 3 kilometers from the incident site after search efforts conducted by rescuers and local residents.
According to local residents, the deceased young man had recently returned from labor migration in Russia.
After the incident, officials from the district administration, the chairman of the Mahalla Citizens' Assembly, and the neighborhood prevention inspector visited the deceased's home.
According to the source, employees of the district prosecutor's office also arrived at the scene, examined the body, and an expert examination was ordered. The funeral prayer for the deceased was held on May 20.
Press secretary of the General Prosecutor's Office, Hayot Shamsutdinov, confirmed in response to the publication's inquiry that the incident did indeed occur.
He reported that information about the incident was received by the district Internal Affairs Department at 20:20 on May 19.
"Regarding the situation, pre-investigation checks are being carried out by the district prosecutor's office. A legal decision will be ensured based on the results of the investigation," he said.
Earlier, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that no houses were damaged as a result of the mudflows observed in the Namangan, Jizzakh, and Kashkadarya regions.
It was also stated that no information had been received by the ministry regarding any injured persons.
