60 tunnel crossings will be built on the new "Tashkent – Samarkand" highway.
The total length of this road is 282 kilometers, with a design speed of 150 km/h.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on the development of transport infrastructure and issued instructions regarding the "Tashkent – Samarkand" alternative highway project and its technical solutions.
The presentation noted that transport infrastructure is crucial for interconnecting economic sectors, fully utilizing regional potential, and creating convenience for the population and businesses.
Therefore, special attention is being paid to the development of highways, aviation, logistics, and international transport corridors in the country.
The construction of the "Tashkent – Samarkand" alternative highway was considered as a key project. The total length of this road is 282 kilometers, connecting the Tashkent, Syrdarya, Jizzakh, and Samarkand regions.
The project is planned to be built as a Category I-a road with a cement-concrete pavement and three traffic lanes in each direction. The design speed of the road is 150 kilometers per hour.
The project envisages the implementation of 12 transport solutions, 60 tunnel crossings, 91 bridges, 16 overpasses, 258 drainage structures, and an intelligent transport system.
Additionally, the project plans to establish 12 terminals, roadside infrastructure, and weight measurement systems.
The head of state gave instructions to accelerate negotiations with potential investors and to begin construction work within a short timeframe.
