In Khatirchi, a father who killed his 6-month-old son by stuffing a sock into his mouth was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
A man shoved a sock into the mouth of a baby who had disturbed his sleep and shook it violently.

A court has sentenced a man who caused bodily harm to his crying infant in the Navoi region, resulting in the child's death. Zamon.uz reviewed the court document.
According to the criminal case reviewed by the Khatirchi District Court for Criminal Cases, the incident occurred on January 9, 2026, in the "Damariq" neighborhood of the district.
The court verdict states that F.N., born in 1993, became angry when his son, born on July 20, 2025, was crying and would not calm down upon his arrival home. The man first shook the baby, then stuffed a children's sock into his mouth, inflicting physical pain.
According to court materials, despite objections from his wife and other family members, the man grabbed the baby by both hands, lifted him, and dropped him. As a result, the child's head hit the wooden part of the sofa's lower section. He then repeated this action.
The verdict notes that when the child's condition worsened, he was taken to the Khatirchi District Central Hospital in a state of clinical death. Despite the medical care provided by doctors, the infant died on January 14, 2026.
According to the forensic medical examination, the child's death was caused by hemorrhage under the dura mater and pia mater of the brain and into the cerebellum, brain and pulmonary edema, and acute respiratory failure. The examination also identified bodily injuries on the body, including the back of the head, shoulders, knees, and other areas.
During the court session, the defendant did not admit guilt and stated that he did not intentionally kill his child. However, the court concluded that his guilt was fully proven by the victim's testimony, witness statements, the forensic medical examination report, and other evidence collected in the case.
The court found F.N. guilty of committing the crime stipulated in paragraphs "v" and "j" of Part 2 of Article 97 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and sentenced him to 15 years of imprisonment. It was determined that the sentence would be served in a general-regime colony.
