Fabio Cannavaro, the head coach of the Uzbekistan national team, will not return to Tashkent with the team after the conclusion of the World Cup.
According to a report from Championat.asia, the Italian specialist will travel directly from the USA to Italy. Cannavaro announced this after the World Cup ended.
“We have been with the national team for two months, and now we all need a little rest. I will fly from New York to Italy and see you in September,” said the specialist.
For reference, under the leadership of Fabio Cannavaro, the Uzbekistan national team participated in the World Cup for the first time in its history. Our representatives lost to Colombia 1:3, Portugal 0:5, and DR Congo 1:3 in the group stage, ending the tournament without a playoff spot.
After the World Cup, a press conference with the head coach was expected to be held following the team’s return to Tashkent. However, due to Cannavaro’s departure to Italy, his meeting with journalists may be postponed to September.
