On June 19, the grand award ceremony of the 58th International Chemistry Olympiad was held in Tashkent. All four students who defended the honor of Uzbekistan took places among the winners. A correspondent from Zamon.uz reported this.


According to the final results, Rayhona Tuymurodova won a gold medal. Jasur Mustafoyev, Azizmuhammad Hafizov, and Mirjalol Homidjonov were awarded silver medals.


For the first time in history, Uzbekistan hosted this prestigious international science Olympiad. Talented students from over 90 countries around the world participated in the competition, testing their knowledge in theoretical and practical stages.


The International Chemistry Olympiad is considered one of the most prestigious science competitions in the world. Up to four students from each country participate. Contestants compete in solving complex chemical problems during five-hour theoretical and five-hour laboratory-practical exams.


For reference, in accordance with the relevant decision of the President dated September 30, 2024, Uzbek participants who win medals at prestigious international science Olympiads are awarded cash prizes. According to this procedure, the gold medalist receives 1 billion 30 million soums, the silver medalist receives 618 million soums, and the bronze medalist receives 412 million soums.


Additionally, the teacher of the gold medalist is paid 185.4 million soums, the teacher of the silver medalist is paid 103 million soums, and the teacher of the bronze medalist is paid 61.8 million soums in cash.


Based on the results of the Uzbekistan national team, the total prize money allocated for students amounts to 2 billion 884 million soums. The teachers who prepared them will receive a total of 494.4 million soums in prizes. Furthermore, it has been established that the qualification category of the teachers who prepared the winners for the international Olympiad will be raised by one level.
