A law regulating social work activities has been adopted in Uzbekistan.

On July 23, the law "On Social Work" (No. LRU-1159) was adopted. The main purpose of the law is to legally regulate relations in the field of social work. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Huquqiy axborot" here.

According to the document, social work is a professional activity that helps increase the capabilities and potential of individuals in need of social protection, serving social changes in society through the development of social services and social assistance.

The law stipulates that social work is organized in the fields of medicine, education, social protection, employment, judicial and law enforcement agencies, as well as the penal enforcement system.

Additionally, the National Agency for Social Protection was designated as the specially authorized state body in this area.

In accordance with the law, social services and social assistance are divided into primary, specialized, and highly specialized levels. They may be provided at the citizen's place of residence, in their neighborhood, in service-providing institutions, including residential institutions, and via the internet.

The basis for providing social services and assistance is the application of a person in need of social protection or their legal representative, as well as their consent to receive the services.

Furthermore, the Social Inspectorate under the National Agency for Social Protection was designated as the authorized body responsible for monitoring compliance with legislative requirements in the social protection of the population and the provision of social services.
