The procedure for distributing lesson hours in schools has changed.

The Ministry of Preschool and School Education has officially commented on reports circulating on social media regarding changes to the procedure for distributing teaching hours among teachers.

The Ministry stated that on October 28, 2025, amendments and additions were made to the regulation "On the procedure for forming class compositions and tariff lists in general education institutions" by a joint decision of the Ministry, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Ministry of Health.

 

It was noted that the main purpose of these changes is to reduce teachers' workload, simplify the requirements for distributing teaching hours, and make the process more transparent and fair.

 

According to the new procedure, the previously existing 19 priority criteria for distributing teaching hours have been reduced to 10. The Ministry emphasized that these changes were implemented based on proposals from many teachers.

 

Additionally, to create equal opportunities for all educators, criteria such as graduating from the world's TOP-1000 universities or preparing winning students for international and core subject olympiads have been abolished. The Ministry explained this by noting that not all teachers have access to such opportunities.

 

Now, the main focus in distributing teaching hours will be on educators who possess national or international certificates, have acquired modern competencies, and have demonstrated professional potential and work results.

 

According to the Ministry, this procedure will support highly qualified teachers who continuously work on themselves, improve the quality of education, and enhance students' learning outcomes. The new procedure will be implemented starting from the 2026/2027 academic year.
