A parliamentary inquiry was sent to Ozodbek Nazarbekov.
The request was sent because problems such as the need for repairs to buildings, a lack of equipment, and a shortage of teaching staff persist in art schools.
At a meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, existing problems in art education institutions were discussed, and a parliamentary inquiry was sent to Minister of Culture Ozodbek Nazarbekov.
Deputies noted that studies conducted in the regions and information received from educational institutions show that a number of systemic problems remain in the sector.
It was reported that 326 children's music and art schools have been established in the republic. A number of educational institutions have been reconstructed and provided with musical instruments and educational equipment. However, the buildings of some institutions are in need of major repairs.
In particular, it was found that the buildings of specialized art schools in Termez, Fergana, Urganch, Samarkand, and Navoi, the Higher School of Music and Art named after Sherali Jo'rayev in Andijan, and the Republican Specialized Art School named after R. Glier in Tashkent are in need of major repairs.
Additionally, the task set in the 2020 presidential decree to establish specialized primary boarding schools of dance art in Bukhara, Karshi, Namangan, and Urganch has not been fully implemented.
One hectare of land has been allocated for the Bukhara Specialized Art School, and project-estimate documents worth 43 billion soums have been prepared. However, construction work has not begun due to the lack of allocated funds.
It was noted that in some music and art education institutions, the number of students exceeds the design capacity of the buildings, the acoustic condition of training rooms does not meet requirements, and there is a shortage of specialized classrooms and concert halls.
There are also problems in the staffing area. In particular, some institutions lack accompanists and teachers for narrow specializations.
In this regard, deputies asked the Minister of Culture to provide a reasoned explanation regarding the work being done to equip art education institutions with necessary equipment and teaching-methodological materials, improve the quality of education and staff potential, enhance the system of professional development and attestation of teachers, as well as supply boarding schools with educators.
