Uzbekistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov received copies of the credentials from Switzerland's new ambassador to Uzbekistan Simon Giger and Germany's new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Mattias Follert.

 

 

During the meeting with Simon Giger, issues of intensifying political dialogue between Uzbekistan and Switzerland, expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation, developing industrial cooperation, and promoting new joint projects were discussed.

 

Giger succeeded Konstantin Obolensky, who had been serving in Uzbekistan in this position since 2021. Obolensky completed his diplomatic mission in June 2026.

 

During the meeting with Germany's new ambassador Mattias Follert, pressing issues on the bilateral agenda were discussed. The parties emphasized the importance of timely and high-quality implementation of agreements reached at the highest level.

 

 

Bakhtiyor Saidov described Germany as one of Uzbekistan's reliable and time-tested partners in Europe. He noted that in recent years, relations between the two countries have been developing consistently thanks to high-level visits and regular political dialogues.

 

Germany's former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan, Manfred Huterer, had completed his diplomatic mission in the country in July.
