Underground caves designed to store valuables of ultra-wealthy individuals are being established in the Swiss Alps. The project is planned to be launched next year. Point.md reported on this.
According to project developer Thomas Gasser, about 20 underground storage facilities will be equipped in the Brünig massif in central Switzerland. They will be able to store works of art, precious metals, collector cars, and expensive wines.
Access to the facilities begins at a checkpoint. After that, visitors undergo several additional checks. Details of the security system have not been disclosed.
The right to use each cave is leased for 99 years. Prices start at 1 million Swiss francs, or approximately 1.07 million euros. The project authors emphasize that demand for such services is high. Some clients have already purchased the right to use the facilities.
Thomas Gasser says some wealthy individuals are seeking to store part of their assets in a safe place. He attributes this to changing perceptions about the attractiveness of Dubai, which was previously seen as a safe haven.
It is noted that old military bunkers were previously used in Switzerland to store valuables. Now, the country's army is also considering reusing some bunkers under the "Russian threat" conditions, particularly for storing ammunition and necessary supplies.
