The First Lady of Uzbekistan got acquainted with the cultural heritage of Serbia.

During the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Serbia, the country’s First Lady Ziroat Mirziyoyeva, accompanied by Serbia’s First Lady Tamara Vucic, visited a number of cultural sites in Belgrade.

The first stop of the program was the National Museum of Serbia. The First Ladies familiarized themselves with the museum’s exhibition, viewing archaeological finds related to the country’s history, as well as works of Serbian and world art. At the same time, the distinguished guests also explored the “Etno-mreja” traditional craftsmanship exhibition.

Special attention was paid to one of the country’s most important national monuments — the Miroslav Gospel, considered the oldest example of Serbian Cyrillic script. This unique manuscript dating back to the 12th century holds high artistic value, with its miniatures skillfully decorated. In 2005, the Miroslav Gospel was inscribed in UNESCO’s international “Memory of the World” Register.

Afterward, the First Ladies visited the Church of Saint Sava, one of the largest Orthodox cathedrals in the world and an important spiritual symbol of Serbia.

During the cordial conversation, Ziroat Mirziyoyeva and Tamara Vucic emphasized the importance of further developing cultural and humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and Serbia.
