6.6 billion euros will be allocated to Ukraine: EU agrees on conditions
The funds allocated from the European Peace Facility are distributed in three directions.
European Union member states have agreed on the terms for allocating 6.6 billion euros to Ukraine from the European Peace Facility. The funds will be directed toward financing military assistance and related expenses.
This was announced by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.
According to the agreement, 900 million euros will be directed toward financing the EU mission to provide military assistance to Ukraine. Another 1 billion euros will be spent on the purchase of new joint equipment.
The remaining 4.7 billion euros will be allocated to reimburse the expenses of EU member states. According to Kallas, some countries have announced that they will direct their share toward Ukraine's needs.
Kallas called this decision good news for Ukraine and bad news for Russia. She emphasized that Russia's hybrid attacks are aimed at pushing Europe to reduce its support for Ukraine, but Europe is doing the opposite.
Earlier, EU officials had stated that they were discussing how to allocate the 6.6 billion euros blocked in the European Peace Facility.
