President Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent congratulations to tourism sector employees
The President proposed establishing the honorary title "Honored Tourism Worker of the Republic of Uzbekistan."
27 September — In a congratulatory message on the occasion of World Tourism Day, the head of state wished good health, happiness, success and victories in their honorable activities to everyone in the sector.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced new plans for developing the tourism sector in Uzbekistan.
The head of state stated that the number of foreign tourists visiting Uzbekistan in 2025 has increased nearly 6 times compared to 2016, approaching 12 million people. Tourism services exports increased 11 times, amounting to 4.8 billion dollars.
It was emphasized that on Uzbekistan's initiative, the UN General Assembly declared 2027 as the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism. The UN Tourism Organization included the country as one of the five fastest-growing tourist destinations in the world.
In the future, an international tourist town, a congress center, and a historical-ethnographic park will be established in Khiva. It is planned to transform Ichanqal'a into a "smart" museum-complex based on digital technologies.
A Silk Road Museum will be established in Samarkand. New tourist routes along archaeological monuments will be opened in Karakalpakstan. Additionally, it is envisaged to establish new complexes such as "G'ilon" in the Shahrisabz district of Kashkadarya and "Arashan" in the Pop district of Namangan.
The President noted that the widespread introduction of modern technologies in tourism, the launch of a unified national tourism platform, and the integration of tourist services into a single system are also important tasks.
The goals are set to bring the number of foreign tourists to 20 million per year by 2030, increase tourism's share in the gross domestic product to 7 percent, increase tourism services exports to over 8 billion dollars, and double the number of high-category hotels.
Additionally, Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed establishing the honorary title of "Honored Tourism Worker of the Republic of Uzbekistan."
